Natürlich. Wer hätte es auch anders erwartet? Fredericton ist ja auch nur die Provinzhauptstadt---wobei die Betonung hier auf Provinz liegt. Ich muss also an die Grenze, um dort meine Studienerlaubis ausstellen zu lassen.
Deshalb war ich beim Autoverleih meines Vertrauens, und James T. Kirk wäre stolz auf mich! Und weil ich mich (noch) nicht durchringen konnte, ein amerikanisches Fahrzeug zu mieten, habe ich mich für das von Burton 'Gus' Guster erprobte Model entschieden.
Da es Wochentags, insbesondere Dienstag, Mittwoch und Donnerstag, jedoch nicht ganz so einfach ist, überhaupt ein Auto zu mieten, werde ich mich erst Freitag auf den Weg machen. Dafür konnte ich das gute Wochenend-Special in Anspruch nehmen und zur Hälfte des regulären Preises meinen kleinen Reiskocher durch die Gegend fahren, wenn ich ihn auch Samstag miete---was ja dann praktisch auf das Gleiche herauskommt. Broooooom!
Of course. Who would've expected anything else? Fredericton is only the provincial capital---and I am stressing provincial here. I have to go to the border to get my study permit issued.
In oder to facilitate that, I have been visiting the car rental business of my choice today, and if I may say so, James T. Kirk would be proud of me! And as I could not bring myself to rent an American car (yet), I have decided to take the preferred car of Burton 'Gus' Guster.
As it appears to be not quite so easy to actually rent a car during the week, especially Tuesday through Thursday, I will only be able to get on the road on Friday. On the upside, I do get the weekend deal and can move my little rice-burner for half the regular price, if I also rent it on Saturday---which thus pretty much equalizes what I would have paid for a rental during the week, but gives me a car another day. Vroooooom!
