Nachdem das Schreiben der kanadischen Botschaft, das bestätigt, dass mir eine Studienerlaubnis erteilt werden darf, natürlich nicht mit mir auf die Reise nach Kanada gegangen ist, muss ich mich nun hier darum kümmern. Heute ist endlich der Brief, den mir meine Eltern nachgeschickt haben, hier eingetroffen, und es stellte sich die Frage: Wie mache ich das jetzt genau? Es gibt 2 (in Worten: zwei) Alternativen:
1. Ich leihe mir ein Auto und fahre etwa nach St. Stephen, schaue mir etwas Maine an und erledige alle Formalitäten bei der Wiedereinreise nach Kanada.
2. Da ich am 4. Oktober sowieso nach Montreal fliege, kann ich das alles natürlich auch dann und dort erledigen.
Obwohl mir die ganze Klamotte ein bisschen auf die Nerven geht---hätte ich bloss mal alle Schriftstücke zusammengehabt, als ich losgeflogen bin---denke ich, dass ich das ganze noch bis nächste Woche schieben werde und es in Montreal erledige. Das einzige Problem, dass sich dabei ergibt liegt darin, dass ich bis dahin nicht bezahlt werde... Ich hoffe, dass die Studiengebühren ebenfalls erst dann bezahlt werden müssen, ansonsten steht die Pleite ins Haus.
In Montreal bin ich übrigens auf einem Workshop zusammen mit meiner Professorin; aber davon schreibe ich mehr, wenn ich da bin.
After the confimation of my request for a study permit from the Canadian embassy was conveniently sitting at home while I was on the plane here, I have to take care of my immigration status now. Today, finally, the letter contaning the confimation arrived. Now, the following question pops up: How exactly am I going to handle this? There are 2 (in letters: two) alternatives:
1. I rent a car and drive to St. Stephen, visit Maine for a bit and take care of the formalities upon re-entering Canada.
2. As I am in Montreal on 10/4 anyway, I could just take care of it then and there.
Although this whole thing is a getting on my nerves a bit---if only I had all the letters ready when I left Germany---I think I will push it until next week and do it in Montreal. The only problem with that is that I will not get paid until then... I only hope that the tuition is not due until that date, or I will face bankruptcy.
By the way, in Montreal I will be attending a workshop chaired by my supervising professor; but more on that when I am there.
